The C5 Anemometer - Maximum Durability
The maximum durability of the Richards C5 Anemometer puts it in a category all its own. It is the finest, most industrial strength 3-cup style anemometer on the market today. The C5 was designed by our engineers with quality and durability as their goals. No shortcuts were taken and no compromises were made during its construction. Using the highest grade of raw materials and components available and state-of-the-art machining techniques.

The Richards C5 has proven to be the highest quality precision anemometer you will find. The C5 anemometer's superior design and commercial grade construction enable it to perform in the most severe conditions. These conditions may include Saffir-Simpson Scale category five hurricane force winds, corrosive marine environments, or sub-zero mountainous temperatures. The Richards C5s durability has been proven in numerous wind tunnel tests at speeds up to 230 miles per hour and in field installations such as the extreme, unpredictable conditions of the Atlantic Sea Coast and the summit of Mount Washington, which has recorded the highest wind speed and most severe weather on earth.
The C5 Anemometer - Industrial Construction
There are
NO plastic parts used in the construction of the Richards C5 Anemometer. Plastic parts fail easily and are not suited for industrial applications. All C5 anemometer components are made from either
corrosion resistant stainless steel or high grade Titanium The C5 housing, base, and tower, are all CNC machined from solid 316 Stainless Steel bar stock for maximum corrosion resistance, precision performance, and industrial strength. The C5 anemometer utilizes high performance rotor cups, arms, and hardware which are also fabricated from 316 Stainless Steel. In order to have maximum strength and the lowest threshold possible, the rotor hub is CNC machined from solid light weight Titanium and further skeletonized to remove all unnecessary mass. The C5 Anemometers superior performance is produced by a hardened stainless steel shaft, rotating on two of our specially designed double shielded stainless steel ball bearings for maximum durability, performance, and long life.
The C5 Anemometer - Superior Design
The Richards C5 Anemometer has many design features that are unique to the instrument. The C5 incorporates our own specially designed high performance solid stainless steel rotor wind cups.

These cups are incredibly strong and
will not distort even at category high wind speeds. The rotor wind cups have our own unique shape, which have been wind tunnel tested for maximum output linearity and performance. The C5 Anemometer houses electronics which have as standard, dual output construction. This means the C5 can produce an AC sine wave or pulse signal output for maximum application versatility. All Richards anemometers and wind vanes have our special signature green anti-stick coating to help prevent dirt and snow build up on the external working parts of the sensor. Another unique feature of the C5 Anemometer is our special vent system which protects the internal electronics from damage due to moisture, dust, and sea salt spray. This system makes our anemometers perfect for the tough off shore turbine control applications with sea salt spray or installations in southern wet climates with rapid and large temperature changes.
The C5 Anemometer - Wind Applications

The Richards C5 Anemometer and matching wind vane is the supreme choice for general wind measurement as well as installations with severe conditions. These applications may include; Wind Monitoring for Meteorological Studies, Marine Buoys, Wind Profiles, Defense Applications, Aquaculture, Ocean Vessels, Oil Platforms, Mountain Research, Storm Chasers, Aviation Weather Stations, Universities, Road Weather Information Systems, Agricultural Weather Stations, Highway Weather Stations, Turbine Control, Hazardous Environmental Control, or any industrial wind application where the sensors durability in severe environments is paramount.
