The Richards C5C Compact Switching Anemometer is the perfect sensor for wind resource analysis projects for the wind industry. The C5C Anemometer has all of the great features of the larger C5 anemometer but in a light compact profile for ease of installation on Met Towers. The C5C anemometer also has a reed switch output for low power consumption.

This anemometer is also made completely from high grade stainless steel and Titanium for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. The Richards C5C Anemometer is the perfect storm chasers wind sensor
There are
NO plastic parts used in the construction of the Richards C5C Anemometer. Plastic parts fail easily and are not suited for storm chasing. Many people involved in storm chasing have complained that traditional plastic 3-cup anemometers tend to fail during high wind speed events. We have designed our anemometers to survive the high winds typically seen during severe storms. All C5C Compact Anemometer components are made from either corrosion resistant stainless steel or high grade Titanium. The C5C housing, and tower, are all CNC machined from solid 316 Stainless Steel bar stock for maximum corrosion resistance, precision performance, and industrial strength. The C5C anemometer utilizes high performance rotor cups, arms, and hardware which are also fabricated from 316 Stainless Steel. In order to have maximum strength and the lowest threshold possible, the rotor hub is CNC machined from solid light weight Titanium and further skeletonized to remove all unnecessary mass. The C5C Anemometers superior performance is produced by a hardened stainless steel shaft, rotating on two of our specially designed double shielded stainless steel ball bearings for maximum durability, performance, and long life. These features make the C5C Anemometer perfect for storm chasers using tornado pods.
Superior Anemometer Design and Low Power Consumption
The Richards C5C Anemometer has many design features that are unique to the instrument. The C5C incorporates our own specially designed high performance solid stainless steel rotor wind cups. These cups are incredibly strong and
will not distort even at category high wind speeds. The rotor wind cups have our own unique shape, which have been wind tunnel tested for maximum output linearity and performance. The C5C Anemometer houses electronics which have as standard a pulse signal output for low power consumption. All Richards anemometers and wind vanes can also be ordered with our special signature green anti-stick coating to help prevent dirt and snow build up on the external working parts of the sensor.
