Construction

The Richards D5H-3263-1 Heated Wind Direction Vane was specifically designed for high wind speeds in harsh cold winter environments. The D5H-3263-1 is the heated version of our D5-1263-1 Series Wind Vane. The D5H Series Heated Wind Vane has all of the great features of the standard D5 wind vane but with the addition of a powerful internal heater to prevent the bearings from freezing in winter conditions.

All Richards D5H Series Heated Wind Direction Vane components are stainless steel for superior strength and corrosion resistance. The vane hub, shaft tower, instrument housing, counter weight, and base are all CNC machined from solid stainless steel bar stock.

The D5H Series Heated Wind Direction Vane utilizes a heavy duty Stainless Steel vane. The vane is welded to the vane shaft. This shaft also rotates on two precision grade, shielded, stainless steel ball bearings. You can easily replace the bearings in minutes right on site without disconnecting the sensor cable or the wind sensor from its mounting.

The D5H Series Heated Wind Vane has a 10K potientiometer element which creates an analog DC voltage output signal for directional degrees. Our potentiometers are high quality and have a life expectancy of 50 million revolutions or 4-6 years of normal operation.
